I love bacon. Sometimes on Sundays I will make a special breakfast for the hubby... bacon and eggs. I love sprinkling brown sugar over the bacon before I put it in the oven. Yes, the oven. I learned that sugar/oven trick from Rachel Ray. But something I never thought of was that yummy bacon grease with bits of yummy in it. A few years back while tail gating at OSU stadium early in the morning, I watched someone put some of that yummyness into the scrambled eggs as they were cooking.  Now I do this every time. It just adds a little extra yummy to them. It's Sunday, there's bacon and eggs (with some bacon drippings for flavor) and the Sunday paper. Have a Yummy-Bacon-Blessed day!

I'm jonesing for Fall. It's the season I married my best friend, where I can hear Paul Keels give the play by play for OSU football, where I can put on a sweater, enjoy all of the beautiful colors and pick out a big fat pumpkin. I can admire sunflowers and mums. I always get this way mid-summer. I start dreaming of my favorite season. Thank goodness the Big 10 Network has been showing reruns of OSU games. That way I can get a small fix until Fall rolls around. And yes, I am capatilizing the word Fall, it just means that much to me that I think it deserves it. Or are you supposed to capitalize it? Maybe my teacher friends can tell me. Anyway...Fall is a great welcome-mat for the rest of the year, like a big bear hug that says the next few months will be great. The hussle and bussle of school starting in September, Halloween in October, Thanksgiving in November and Christmas in December. I love Fall...sigh. What is your favorite season?

Yesterday I was having one of those days...today is much better, thanks to some kind words from others. Sometimes you just need to vent it out, receive love in and move on. That's what I'm determined to do thank you very much.

Can your soul hurt? I feel like mine does. Not just my heart and my mind but something much deeper within me. Is it possible?... to feel the sorrow and pain in this world running through your veins? Please don't think I'm crazy. I just feel so saddened by what is going on around me...the shootings at a movie theatre in Colorado, the mean spirited political atmosphere, the abuse scandal at Penn State, the frustration with the Catholic Church, the environment, the wars, poverty, hunger, loss and they even traded Rick Nash to the New York Rangers (sorry, I'm just needing some humor in all of this.) I really feel like my soul is in pain, as if I am too sensitive to the worlds vibrations right now. I'll be fine, I will. I just wish there was more peace in this world. Does your soul ever hurt?

When I'm feeling a little cranky, moody or just want to treat myself, I stop at my favorite store, named Target and go directly to the cookie isle. There I search frantically for Pepperidge Farm Bordeaux cookies. As soon as I am in my car, the foil lined bag gets torn open and rows of delicate, light buttery cookies get eaten quickly like a big old bag of potato chips, one after another, until the little paper liner is left with just a few crunchy crumbs. The crumbs then get lifted and tilted into my mouth. Like I said, this only happens when I'm a little cranky, moody or just want to treat myself. Don't judge.

Talk about crazy with a capital C. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is some real crazy. I read this book on my way to and from Vegas. It's one of those books that keeps you guessing and suprised until the very last page! If you think you know someone who is crazy, you dont know crazy until you read this. (Yes, I know I used the word crazy 5 times in this post. Maybe I'm going a little crazy too.  Oops, now it's six times.) A New York Times best seller. Book description taken from Amazon: Marriage can be a real killer. One of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time, New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn takes that statement to its darkest place in this unputdownable masterpiece about a marriage gone terribly, terribly wrong. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed that her work “draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction.” Gone Girl’s toxic mix of sharp-edged wit and deliciously chilling prose creates a nerve-fraying thriller that confounds you at every turn.

I just started The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. A young adult book, it centers around what would happen if the rotation of the earth suddenly started to slow down. Although it is for young adults, it's another great book in the likes of Harry Potter or Hunger Games, where adults will like it too.  Listed as one of Amzaon's Best Books of June 2012. Book description taken from Amazon: On a seemingly ordinary Saturday in a California suburb, Julia and her family awake to discover, along with the rest of the world, that the rotation of the earth has suddenly begun to slow. The days and nights grow longer and longer, gravity is affected, the environment is thrown into disarray. Yet as she struggles to navigate an ever-shifting landscape, Julia is also coping with the normal disasters of everyday life—the fissures in her parents’ marriage, the loss of old friends, the hopeful anguish of first love, the bizarre behavior of her grandfather who, convinced of a government conspiracy, spends his days obsessively cataloging his possessions. As Julia adjusts to the new normal, the slowing inexorably continues.
