Well people, I have decided to embrace turning the big 4-0 with all that I can "muster." I call it "My Year of Turning 40." I am going to do things I have never done before, go outside my comfort zone, and basically HAVE FUN! My theme is: She believed she could, so she did. I first found it on Pinterest.
So I decided to get a tattoo with these inspiring words. My first tattoo was exactly 20 years ago. Wasn't it about time for another one? A little research and I found Katrina at Evolved on the OSU campus. After a consult and a scheduled appointment I arrived for the big day.
First I had to sign my life away and give ok for the design. She told me to make sure everything was spelled right. Who is she talking to? I cant spell worth a lick, but I signed away!
This is me, a kick-ass beotch ready for my tat! (You can see my other little tattoo on my ankle. My holly leaf.)
This is me scared shitless after she got out the needle. Notice the nervous look on my face and the fist clenched. (sorry for the profanity but hey I just got a tattoo damn it and Im turning 40!!!)
It hurt like hell, it felt like she was carving into my skin with a knife so sharp my flesh was falling off in nice thin layers, like the crazy guy from Silence of the Lambs was using my skin for a nice jacket. But it was so worth it, I love it!
Katrina did a great job and I would reccommend her to anyone. I love a kick-ass kind of girl!
So, I have a lot of things planned for 2012. Hopefully no flare-ups of my Crohns disease, and one of my goals is to eat at every restaurant listed on the Dispatch's Top Ten Restaurants in Columbus. I'll keep you posted!

This brought tears to my eyes...if only we could look in the mirror NOW and think "I am proud of myself... of my entire life...of everything I have done" and not have to wait until heaven to feel this way! The boy in this video died on Christmas Day 2011. Rest in Peace, as I am sure you will, Ben Breedlove.

Well it's that time...Christmas is over but the new year hasnt begun yet.  Time to reflect, time to pray, time to give thanks and think about the past year and the new year to come.

One thing I really love about this time of year is the abundance of yummy peppermint creations! Today I introduce to you my 2011 Top 5 Peppermint Yummy Things List.
In 5th place... Pillsbury Peppermint Sugar Cookies!
These yummy cookies can be found in the refrigerated cookie dough section in your grocery store. In a roll, like their original sugar cookie dough, they taste extra special with some Betty Crocker Fluffy Frosting from the jar.

In 4th place...It was really hard to put Starbucks Peppermint Mocha and Peppermint Hot Chocolate in 4th place, but I found something that tastes better...you'll see that below. It's always fun to look foward to the red cups and this speciality drink. When Starbucks brings this out, you know it's the true start to the holiday season!

In 3rd place...Steak'n Shake's Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake...just the right hint of peppermint and chocolate make this a favorite for those craving a little chill.
I am such a fan of peppermint that I've never tried their other holiday flavors, but they sure look good too! Ok...2nd place was a tough one because I am a true die-hard Starbuck fan. But one day I was shopping at Wally Mart and came across single packets of Ghiradelli Peppermint Hot Cocoa. I bought 3 on a whim, went home and tried it and determined it was better than my favorite Starbucks Peppermint Hot Chocolate. I called my mom immediatley and told her to go back to Wally Mart and get the rest of them because I haven't found them anywhere else. Just listen to how they describe it on the Ghiradelli website and you'll understand "The luxuriously deep flavor of Ghirardelli® Peppermint Hot Cocoa creates an intense, lingering chocolate experience. We start with cocoa from the finest of cocoa beans and blend just the right amount of sugar, real vanilla and peppermint. The result is a rich chocolate taste balanced with a hint of peppermint. Enjoy as the pleasure of your Peppermint Hot Cocoa lingers and time stands still."
If you find this luxery anywhere else...please, please let me know!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...
#1 Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark. Need I say more?
Runners Up:
Andes Peppermint Crunch Thins
Hershey Peppermint Kisses
FAILURES:
Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon with the peppermint craze, but some just don't get it that peppermint connoisseurs such as myself can see and taste right through it! Tim Horton's Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate looked nothing like the pretty picture when they handed it to me in the drive through. Melted whip cream and a watery base, barely any mint taste and I wont be back again! McDonalds also offers something similar that I find to be just an average drink with no bells or peppermint whistles.

Well my life has been crazy lately and thats why I havent been here. I have all these great blog ideas but they just arent making it to this page. I am working on a Top 5 Peppermint Yummy Things List. Peppermint really has helped me get through the last couple of weeks. Thank you Peppermint. And thank you to my loyal readers who keep checking back in. I'll be back soon.
