I had heard rave reviews of this book and even bought it for my dad for Christmas but I am having a hard time getting into it. I keep pushing on. I'll let you know if I decide to continue. Has anyone else read this and what did you think?

I haven't read it or heard much about it. Right now I"m reading The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs and I picked up 11/22/63 by Steven King, which I heard was really good.

I downloaded it and read it when you told me about it. I thought it was a good book...a little long in the middle and probably more details than I wanted but all in all I would recommend it. I didn't realize or hadn,t really thought about the horror of being in a Japanese prison camp. We have all heard of the German prison camps and I knew of the Bataan Death march but was't,t really familiar with the Japanese prison camps. Never heard of the man before as I said, it was an interesting book.
